Gladys Garner

Mrs. Gladys Olive Davis Garner, 92, of Frederick, was called to rest Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010. She was the wife of the late William H. Garner Jr. Born July 15, 1918, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late William A. and Gladys Jane Davis.

Mrs. Garner had been employed at Frederick Memorial Hospital and Vindabona Nursing Home as a nursing assistant for many years. She was a member of Jackson United Methodist Church in Bartonsville and was also a member of the Stewart Board.

She is survived by a son, Michael Garner and wife, Shelly, of Frederick; six daughters, Marilyn Ambush and husband, Arnold, Placid Collins, Marie Brown and husband, Robert, and Patrice Harper, all of Frederick, Gladys Larson and husband, Will, of Texas and Robin Murphy and husband, Tom, of Missouri; 21 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Garner was preceded in death by two sons, Bruce David Garner and William H. Garner III; and a grandson, William H. Garner IV.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at the funeral home. The Rev. Rex Bowins and Pastor Erma Dyson will co-officiate.

Interment will be held in Fairview Cemetery. There will be no repast.
