Gladys Louise Smith Eakle, age 79, of 25 N. Potomac St., Waynesboro, PA, and formerly of Boonsboro, died Monday, June 16, 2008, at Quincy Home & Village in Quincy, PA.
Born Aug. 21, 1928 in Ringgold, MD, she was a daughter of the late Geary Lee and Minta Viola Creager Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. Eakle Jr., on Feb. 5, 1999.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Leitersburg Lutheran Church.
She is survived by one son, John E. Scott of Rouzerville, PA; one brother, Jerry G. Smith of Ringgold; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Thursday at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, PA, in Boonsboro. The Rev. Don Conley will officiate. Private entombment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
