Giuseppe Verdecchia

Giuseppe Verdecchia, 85, of Potomac, MD, passed on from this life on Monday, August 28,2023. He was the beloved husband of Laurie for 45 years and loving father to his children,Adriana and Joseph.
Born on March 10, 1938, in Santa Marinella, Italy, he was the son of the late Tulia and Vincenzo Verdecchia. 

Giuseppe was the definition of a self made man. He immigrated to the United States from Italy in his 30’s, obtained his citizenship and became a very successful entrepreneur. It was then that he met the love of his life, Laurie and began his family in Potomac, MD. He was an incredibly loving and supportive father to his two children. Giuseppe was the lead stylist and owner of Sunshine Hair Studio in Bethesda, MD for decades before retiring to his hometown in
Santa Marinella, Italy. Giuseppe lived a very full life, he loved the water and was an avid fisherman. He also enjoyed hunting and was an incredible gardener with the ability to grow almost anything. He was incredibly kind and giving and would never hesitate to help anyone in need including animals.
He was often found nurturing injured animals back to health or taking in stray cats. His inventive and creative spirit always kept him busy, even in his retirement where he cultivated beautiful gardens and cared for his olive trees. Giuseppe was many things but most importantly he was a wonderful husband, brother, and father, a proud Nonno, an honest businessman, and a loyal friend.

In addition to his wife, Laurie, he is survived by his children Adriana and Joseph, son in law John Bittner, his grandchildren, Jackson, Ayla, and Keira Bittner, as well as his sister, Dida Garbati and her family. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.

The family will receive friends from 11-12 pm on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A. (Fred), 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD where a celebration of Giuseppe's life journey will take place at 12pm. Interment will be private.

Memorial donations may be made to the Frederick Rescue Mission in his honor.
