G. Glenn Smith

February 6, 1929 — September 27, 2011

G. Glenn Smith, 82, of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at the his daughter's home.

Born on February 6, 1929, in Middletown, Maryland, he was the son of the late Grayson O. and Anita M. (Toms) Smith.  His wife, Ruth N. (Beans) Smith, preceded him in death in 2009.

Glenn was a graduate from Middletown High School.

He was employed for nine years in the Research Laboratory at Ft. Detrick.  Glenn retired after 21 years of service with Eastalco Aluminum Company.

Glenn was a member of the Grossnickle Church of the Brethren in Myersville.

He was also a member of the Improved Order of Red Men Conococheague Tribe 84 in Williamsport, Maryland, and the National Rifle Association.

Glenn will be deeply missed and will be fondly remembered as an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his two daughters, Glenna M. and her husband Robert Moncrief of Boonsboro, and Carol Ann and her husband James Brown of Frederick; his son, Ricky Lee Smith and his wife Donna of Charles Town, West Virginia; two sisters, Lorraine Langdon of Myersville and Phyllis Fogle of Frederick; and one brother, Kenneth Smith of Middletown.  He is also survived by six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro.  Pastor Tim Ritchey Martin will officiate.  Final resting place ceremonies will follow at the Boonsboro Cemetery.

Friends are invited to visit the funeral home anytime after 9 a.m. on Friday, September 30, 2011, where the family will be present to receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shepherd's Spring Outdoor Ministry Center, Post Office Box 369, Sharpsburg, Maryland, 21782.
