Gerald “Jerry” Phillip Callahan, of Union Bridge, Maryland died on Monday July 23, 2018 at Frederick Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sandra Marie (Schaeffer) Callahan, whom he married on June 20, 1964. Also surviving him are his five sons along with their wives, and ten grandchildren; Victor “Woody” and wife Misty Callahan, of Nebo, NC with children Jonathon (wife Erika), Caleb (wife Kayla), and Tanner; David Callahan, of Baltimore, MD; James and wife Megan Callahan, of Ashton, MD with children Keegan and Addison; Phillip “Bry” and wife Tina Callahan of Frederick, MD with children Bailey, Braden, and Jameson; & Paul and wife Megan Callahan of New Market, MD with children Olivia and McKenna.
Jerry was born in Smithfield, PA on August 2, 1944. He was preceded in death by his parents Vaughn and Loretta Callahan, his sister, Carol Dahmer, and a brother, Ronald Callahan. He is survived by three brothers; Tom and wife Esther, Mark and wife Rebecca, & Gregg and wife Karen.
He lived his life learning and teaching about the bible as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and dedicated his life to his God Jehovah as a teenager. He truly cherished spending time serving as an elder in the Christian congregation, and always put others first. He will certainly be remembered by his eagerness to help anyone in need, intense love of family, and his contagious laughter.
Jerry believed in the hope found in the Bible at Acts 24:15 “I have hope toward God….that there is going to be a resurrection”.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday August 25th, 2018 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses’, 10015 Lewisdale Rd, Ijamsville MD 21754, at 2:00 pm.
