Geraldine A. (Minnick) Boyd, 86, of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed from this life on January 26, 2016 at Citizen's Care and Rehabilitation Center in Frederick, Maryland.
Born on January 2, 1930 in Benevola, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Carlton and Lydia (Byrem) Minnick. Her husband of 66 years, Homer L. Boyd, preceded her in death in 2015.
Geraldine spend most of her life as a homemaker and she had been employed part-time with Earl W. Hoffman & Sons Mill.
She is survived by five daughters, Shelva J. Kline and husband Bobby of Boonsboro, Shirley A. Ernde and husband Charles of Hagerstown, Maryland, Ruth Smith and husband Robert of Boonsboro, Nancy L. Michael and husband Roger of Hagerstown, and Debbie L. Slick and husband Robert of Boonsboro; two sons, Ronald L. Boyd and wife Bonnie of Smithsburg, Maryland, and Gary W. Boyd and wife Lillian of Hagerstown; and one brother, William Minnick of Boonsboro. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Louise Green, Patricia Seal, and Adeline and Margaret Haupt; three brothers, Kenneth, Paul and Preston Minnick; and one half-brother, Melvin Byrem.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2016, at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. The Rev. Andrew McMahon will officiate. Final resting place ceremonies will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery at San Mar in Boonsboro.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 29, 2016 at the funeral home.
