Gerald "Jerry" Carl Starner, 78, of Silver Spring, Maryland, passed from this life on Monday, October 21, 2019 at in Silver Spring, MD
Born on February 16, 1941, in Frederick, MD, he was the son of Harry Franklin Starner and Louise Virginia (Albaugh) Starner. In his early years, Jerry worked as a brick layer. After graduating from Montgomery Blair High School in 1959, he enlisted into the Marine Corp where he was a Corporal and MP stationed in Trinidad and later Camp Lejeune, NC. He was also a veteran of the Cuban Missile Crisis. After his service Jerry worked as a driver for NBC while attending the University of Maryland where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Science. Soon after Jerry joined the Montgomery County Police Department and retired in 1984.
Jerry married the love of his life Catherine in 1991, combined they have 5 children, 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
An avid golfer, he loved to play golf courses in the country with his favorite course being Mountainview in Fairfield, PA
He is survived by his wife, Catherine Marie McAllister Starner; daughter, Heather Starner (grandchildren Ashley, Brooke and Anthony and great grandchildren Taylee and Dominic) daughter, Claudette Sanchez (grandchildren Sophia, Eddie and Noah). Sons Matthew Starner and Mark Starner and daughter Tina Starner.
A funeral service will be held at 11am on Friday, October 25, 2019 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, MD 21713. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
