Gerald T. Poch

Gerald T. Poch, 82, of Frederick, Maryland, passed from this life on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Frederick Health Hospital in Frederick, MD. He was the beloved husband of Charlotte H. Poch for 62 years. Born on February 5, 1942, in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Quigg) Poch.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grand-father. Jerry was a graduate of Wheaton High School. He built his career in mechanical contracting. He was a proud, 60-year Life Member of Steamfitters Local 602 and contributed to many commercial buildings in the DC Metro market. A few notable projects being Calvert Cliffs Power Plant, National Geographic, NIH, EPA, and the Federal Reserve. He worked the majority of his career at NAC Group, where he worked with his brother Charlie, nephews, and many good men. He retired from the company in 2004.

When not driving up and down 270, Jerry loved his home and farm in Frederick. He had a few head of Hereford cattle that brought him much joy. He enjoyed duck pin bowling and had a savage “lefty” slide. He also enjoyed his golf game, which certainly raised his blood pressure but created many shared memories and rounds with both friends and family. He and Charlotte could be found at many cattle and local auctions where he was always looking for a deal. He was a humble, hardworking, helpful man who enjoyed sharing stories of his family and work.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Dr. Glenn Poch of Harrisburg, PA, and his daughters, Cassandra Mellon (Dr. Peter) of Mt. Airy, MD and Sherry Jerrell (Neal) of Frederick, MD. He has nine Grandchildren; Abigail Poch, Rachel Poch, Allison Poch, Megan Mellon-Elliott (Andre), Courtney Mellon, Dominic Jerrell, Kobi Meitzler, Sydney Jerrell, and Colin Jerrell. He also has one great granddaughter. Jerry is also survived by his siblings; Bill Poch (Marilyn) of Pittsburgh, PA, Diane Perkins (Chuck) of Dunnellon, FL, Charlie Poch (Mary Anne) of Nokimos, FL, Mike Poch of Palm Bay, FL, and Donald Poch (Patricia) of Lansing, NY.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD, where a celebration of Gerald's life journey will take place at 2 pm. Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick, MD. Reception will follow at Steinhardt Brewing, 340 East Patrick Street, downtown Frederick.
