Gerald W. LaWall, 91, of Frederick, Maryland, passed from this life on Monday, February 13, 2023, at Homewood at Crumland Farms in Frederick, MD. He was the beloved husband of Bonnie LaWall for 67 years.
Born on September 16, 1931, in Cowlesville ,NY he was the son of the late George C., Sr. and Bethel (Baker) LaWall.
Gerald graduated from Attica High School, Attica, NY. He then attended the University of Buffalo, School of Engineering, and received his BSEE. He then entered the Air Force as an Aviation Cadet. Upon completion of training, he received a commission and was rated as a Navigator. Gerald then attended the Air Force Aircraft Performance Engineering School, receiving his rating as an Aircraft Performance Engineer prior to completion. He was then assigned a Squadron Engineering Officer for C-124 Globemaster Squadron at Dover Air Force Base and assigned as an Individual Mobilization Augmentee on the Air Staff Pentagon as a Reservist, retiring as a Colonel. Gerald worked as a civilian for several contractors on Department of Defense programs. He was an engineer while at Sylvania Electronic Systems involved with Airborne Electronic Countermeasure Systems, a field engineer for Lockheed Missile systems involved with the Polaris/Poseidon Program. While with Systems Consultants Inc. he supported the Project Manager for combat systems developed for installation aboard Saudi Naval Expansion ships. Gerald was employed for ten years with the Department of Defense. Gerald was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Middletown, MD, the American Legion, and the Lion's club. He also volunteered as a docent at Gathland State Park; and volunteered at Homewood Crumland Farms. Gerald enjoyed gardening and doing jig-saw puzzles.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children; Marcia Bollman, David LaWall, and Kathy Enterline; seven grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services and interment will be private.
