Georgia Mae Lipscomb

Ms. Georgia Mae Lipscomb, 91, of Brunswick passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at Frederick Memorial Hospital, after a brief hospitalization. She had been courageously fighting the challenges of dementia in recent years.

Born August 4, 1933 in Kitzmiller (Garrett County), Maryland, she was the wife of the late Roy Lipscomb, her husband of 62 years as of his death in 2011; and the daughter of the late John and Ruth Riggleman.

Georgia was a homemaker, who spent much of her spare time with her special grandson and next-door-neighbor, Chris. She loved bluegrass music, line dancing and karaoke nights at the Brunswick Fire Hall (when it was on Main Street!) She also enjoyed tending to her flowers, watching the news, and was known for keeping an immaculate home. Most of all, she was a loving Mother, Sister, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by her sisters Mona Armstrong and Linda Evans, both of Kitzmiller, a sister, Nancy Upole of Oakland, brother Richard Riggleman of Wisconsin; daughter Carol Harsh of Brunswick, son Roy (and wife Laura) Lipscomb of Middletown; four grandchildren - Chris Cooper of Brunswick, Kim (and husband Brian) Blumenauer of Point of Rocks, Andy (and wife Chrissy) Harsh of Brunswick, Jeff (and wife Susan) Longerbeam, also of Brunswick; as well as five great-grandchildren - Adriana Blumenauer, Brock & Dylan Harsh, Makayla & Kadin Longerbeam.

In addition to her parents and husband, Georgia was preceded in death by her siblings Mary Ellen Matthews, Naomi Paugh, Shirley Tasker and David Riggleman; son-in-law Benjamin Harsh and daughter-in-law Dixie Lipscomb.

Services, including a visitation on Sunday 9/29, will be provided by Stauffer Funeral Home in Brunswick. Interment will be in Park Heights Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband. In keeping with her wishes, both the visitation and graveside service will be private and limited to immediate family. Pastor Phil Graves will officiate the services.

Pallbearers will be Brian Blumenauer, Andy Harsh, Brock Harsh, Dylan Harsh, Jeff Longerbeam, and Josh Umanzor.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests those desiring to contribute to her memory, do so in the form of a memorial contribution to help further research, treatment and support for those affected by dementia. Contributions can be made to: Dementia Society of America, PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901 or by visiting www.dementiasociety.org.
