George H. Lenz, Jr. 87, died Thursday morning, August 27, 2009 in Norfolk, Virginia.


Mr. Lenz was born in Jersey City, New Jersey to George H. Lenz and Elsa Friberg Lenz. He spent his early years in Palisades Park, NJ, but made Maryland his home for most of his life, living in Baltimore, Elkridge, Sykesville, and Boonsboro.


He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Sarah (Sherry) Cooley Lenz and by his daughters, Sharon Clune Lenz Irwin and her husband Dick of Canton, CT, Lauren Lenz Conner and her husband Nick, of Norfolk, VA, Sarah Elsa Lenz Lock and her husband Howard of Davidsonville, MD and Judy Lambert Lenz Marcogliese of Houston, Texas. Mr. Lenz is also survived by his grandchildren, Susan Irwin Levin, Rebecca Irwin Savino, Andrew Lenz Conner, Isabelle Lenz Lock and Emily Lenz Lock. He was predeceased by Douglas Colcock Lenz his beloved son.


Mr. Lenz was a graduate of University of Pennsylvania, Class of 1941. Mr. Lenz then served proudly as a U.S. Marine Corps Infantry Officer during the second World War and was a veteran of several Pacific Theater campaigns.


Mr. Lenz worked with Citibank in New York City then Brazil, and then worked for and retired from the Pabst Brewing Co. after 40 years.


Visitation will be held at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland on Sunday, August 30 at noon, followed by a service at 1 p.m.  A graveside service will follow at Boonsboro Cemetery.


Memorial donations may take the form of contributions to Fahrney-Keedy Memorial Home, 8507 Mapleville Road, Boonsboro, MD 21713.
