George Dean Crawford

George Dean Crawford, 84, of Marietta, Ga., died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, in Marietta.

Mr. Crawford was born in Patoka, Ill., and had lived for the past six years in Marietta, having previously been a resident of Mount Airy. He graduated from the University of Illinois. Mr. Crawford served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a retired nuclear engineer. He was a loving and loyal husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Saliba Crawford of Marietta; three daughters, Nancy Ann Carr of Frederick, Alice Saliba of Bainbridge Island, Wash., and Kathryn Stephens and husband, John of Rapid City, S.D.; two sons, Terry L. Crawford Sr. and wife, Aileen, of Ellicott City, and Alan D. Crawford and wife, Denise, of Valrico, Fla.; two sisters, Nellie Mae Koons of Clinton, Ill., and Carol Crabb of Harrisburg, Ill.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Dean was preceded in death by his first wife, Annette Crawford; and brother, Carl Crawford of Harrisburg, Ill.

Services: Memorial services will be held at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy, MD on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dennis E. Yocum officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to memorial service.
