George Reeder

George Albert Reeder, 81, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, passed from this life on Thursday, January 1, 2015 at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, Maryland.
Born on October 21, 1933, he was the son of the late Roland Hubert and Isabel C. (Martz) Reeder.
George was a 1951 graduate from Boonsboro High School.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Korean War.
George was retired after 30 years of employment with the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Maryland.
He was a volunteer driver for the Red Cross in Montgomery County, and he was a member of the Fourth Presbyterian Church in Bethesda.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Frances E. (Long) Reeder; one son, Jeffrey L. Reeder and wife Tracey of Rockville; one brother, Kenneth E. Reeder of Edgewater, Florida; and three grandchildren, Kelly, Harrison, and Evelyn Reeder. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace House and Helen Hidgon; and one brother, Donald "Bud" Reeder.
A graveside funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2015 at the Boonsboro Cemetery in Boonsboro, Maryland. Rev. Dean M. Miller will officiate. Military honors will be rendered by the Clopper-Michael American Legion Post 10 from Boonsboro.
