Mr. George Ronald “Ronnie” Pheobus, 62, of Mt. Airy, died Friday, June 8, 2012 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born November 20, 1949 in Frederick, he was the son of the late John Albert Pheobus, Sr. and Margaret Hilderbrand Pheobus.
Ronnie graduated from Mt. Airy High School in 1967. He managed several Exxon stations including Antietam Exxon on Opossumtown Pike in Frederick where he worked for more than 20 years. He was a member of the University of Maryland Terrapin Club for many years. He loyally attended Maryland football and basketball games until health prevented him from doing so.
He is survived by his sister, Naudine Pheobus of Mt. Airy; four brothers, John A. Pheobus, Jr. and wife, Jane, of Upper Marlboro; James Leroy Hilderbrand Pheobus and wife, Shirley, of Vardaman, MS; Wayne E. Pheobus of Frederick; and David B. Pheobus and wife, Kim, also of Frederick; and sisters-in-law, Colette Williams and Patti Pheobus.
Also surviving are nieces, Theresa Gress, Jan Stone, Jamie Cruise, Jennifer Nelson, Kimberly Lowrie, Missy O’Cull, and Alyssa Pheobus-Mumtaz; nephews, Leonard M. Pheobus, Gregory A. Pheobus, Randy T. Pheobus, Wesley J. Pheobus, Shawn P. Pheobus, Christopher W. Pheobus, and Evan Pheobus; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, June 11, 2012 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12 from the funeral home chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Wallace Lusk.
Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made Frederick County 4-H Therapeutic Riding Program, 11515 Angleberger Road, Thurmont, MD 21788.
