George Albert Leonard

George Albert Leonard, 88, of Funkstown, Maryland, passed peacefully from this life surrounded by family on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at his home in Funkstown, Maryland.  He was the beloved husband of Michelle Leonard for 43 years.  

Born on June 4, 1934, in NJ, he was the son of the late John Carl and Lillian Mae (Concord) Leonard.
 
George was in the Navy from 1953 to 1961 he was a pipe fitter. He worked on a ranch in California for many years. When he moved to Maryland he worked in construction until he retired. He loved to travel and loved the mountains. He loved riding horses. In his down time, you could find him playing his guitar and keyboard. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandkids.

In addition to his loving wife Michelle Leonard, he is survived by his daughter Melissa House and husband Gary House. His daughter Christina Leonard and son Christopher Manning and wife Misty manning. His grandkids Brady weaver, Alexis House, and Jamison House. Many nieces and nephews and several extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his 12 siblings. 

The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro, Maryland where a celebration of George's life journey will take place at 2 pm. Rev. Dean Pryor, Chaplain at Hospice of Washington Co. Interment will be private.
