George Koontz

Mr. George Richard "Dick" Koontz, 81, of Jefferson, MD, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Patricia Ann (Jarvis) Koontz for 59 years.
Born January 26, 1936 in Jefferson, MD, he was the son of the late Ralph Outerbridge and Amanda Marie (Taylor) Koontz.
He was a member of the National Guard and was a lifelong truck driver until retirement. He enjoyed going to tractor pulls and had a passion for working and talking to friends in his garage.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children Robin Hemp and husband Gary and Allan Koontz and wife Chawnna; four grandchildren Tara Hemp, Amber James and husband Zachary, Kristin Hemp, and Stephen Koontz; his best friend Marvin Hann; and surviving siblings Jack Koontz, Miriam Oland, Betty Easterday, Peggy Strawsburg and husband Leroy.
The family will receive friends on Monday, October 23 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
