George King

Mr. George M. King, 89 of Thurmont, formerly of Souderton ,PA passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at his residence with his daughter and son-in-law at his side.

Born on November 28, 1926, in Lansdale, PA he was the son of the late Mamie G. Deily Fluck. He was a 1944 graduate of Lansdale High School and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. George worked as a shipping and receiving manager for Greene Tweed Manufacturing in Kulpsville, PA for 43 years. Active in his community he was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ where his was a board member and the Moose Club both in Sellersville, PA; AMVETS and American Legion in Souderton and the Thurmont AMVETS, he was a Boy Scout Leader in Silverdale for 16 years and Chairman of the Souderton Recreation Board.

George enjoyed playing billiards and was on many winning team at Generations in Souderton.

Surviving are a daughter, Cheryl Back and husband Timothy of Thurmont, three grandchildren: James, Tony and Shawn; as well as his former wife Darlene King of Thurmont

Graveside service and interment will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, December 28 at Graceham Moravian Church Cemetery, 8231-A Rocky Ridge Road, Thurmont.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be to St. Paul's UCC, 104 Green St., Sellersville, PA 18960 or Graceham Moravian Church, 8231-A Rocky Ridge Rd., Thurmont, MD 21788.
