Mr. George "Jim" Bonebrake, 72, of Mt. Airy, Maryland and Punta Gorda, Florida, passed from this life on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick. He was the husband of the late Edith "Tootie" Bonebrake who died in 2001.
Born on April 22, 1947, in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late George Jacob and Thelma Marie Gowin Bonebrake.
He was a graduate of Wheaton High School and served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War . Jim was the General Manager of Security Vault Works in Laurel.
An avid golfer, he was a member of the Burnt Store Marina Golf Group in Punta Gorda.
Jim also enjoyed to travel, taking many family trips to Florida and out west, especially to Yellowstone National Park.
Surviving are three sons: Ash G. Bonebrake of Berlin, MD, James Bonebrake of Frederick, and Douglas W. Johnson and wife Brenda of Salem, SC; eight grandchildren: Christian, Iyland, Raelyn, Anden, Kaien, Kali, Colbi, Kodi; two sisters: Phyllis Garnand and husband Barry of Mt. Airy and Priscilla Andachter and husband Ron of Ellicott City and a brother John Bonebrake of Olney; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of George's life journey will take place at 12:00 PM on Saturday, September 21 at Old National Pike Park, 12406 Old National Pike, Mt. Airy, MD 21771. Interment will be private.
In lieu Memorial donations may be made in honor of his late wife Tootie Bonebrake to the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Research, 200 E. Joppa Road, Baltimore, MD 21286.
