George William Holder, 60, of Chestnut Grove Road, Keedysville, Md., passed away, December 31, 2008, at his favorite place, in the woods near his home.
Born December 6, 1948 in Weverton, Md., he was the son of the late Richard Henry and Margaret Idell Thompson Holder.
A 1966 graduate of Boonsboro High School, George retired from CSX after 29 years of service.
The most important things in life to George were his wife and family, his desirable passion for the deer and turkey woods and riding his motorcycles. George biked over the country to pursue his quest of being in the outdoors, making many friends along the way. He used his knowledge to willingly teach others.
He was a firm believer in the Second Amendment, thus holding memberships with the NRA and NWTF.
George is survived by his wife of 24 years, Vickie L. Holder; son, George Jeffrey Holder of Keedysville; grandson, Regenal Edwin Holder of Boonsboro; and granddaughter, Brooke Elizabeth Holder of Keedysville.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 5, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home in Boonsboro.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Rev. Daniel M. Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Brownsville Heights Cemetery.
