George Ferreira

George Frederick Ferreira, 78, of Hagerstown, Maryland, passed from this life on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Warm Heart Assisted Living in Mount Airy, MD.

Born on January 11, 1942, in New York, NY, he was the son of the late Anthony James Ferreira and Louise Henrietta (Meybohm) Ferreira.

He graduated from Sewanhaka High School on Long Island, New York in 1961 and served in the United States Air Force.

George worked with the Smithsonian as aFederal K-9 police officer for 20 years, Vance Protection Services for 6 years, a contractor for the U.S. Federal Marshal's Service for 8 years, retiring in 2013.

He loved to travel, family history, photography, old westerns and firearms but most of all he loved his family and his German Shepherd dogs.

He is survived by his children, Anthony J. Ferreira, III, and Kathleen JoAnn Summers; grandchildren, Ashley, Breanna, Robert, Anthony, Michael, Corbett, Aidan, Victoria and Logan; great-grandchildren, Ariah, Aaliyah, Darryl, Dametrius and Damarcus; siblings, Charles Ferreira and his wife, Carolyn and Deborah Ferreira Loso.  He is also survived by other family members, Chris and Lisa Benson, Thomas Benson, Jeff Johnson and Emily, Craig Ferreira and Jason Ferreira.
