George Bruchey, Jr.

George William Bruchey, Jr., 85, of Middletown, MD passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 24, 2016.

Born April 28, 1931 in Monrovia, MD, he was the son of the late George W. and Carrie Summers Bruchey. He was the husband of Mary E. "Betty" Wenzel Bruchey. They were married for 65 years.

George was a graduate of Frederick High School, Class of 1948. George proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving as Sergeant with the Combat Engineers. George was a contractor all of his life, first with Frederick Construction and then as partner with Frederick Contractors, he then started Bruchey Builders in 1983. He was also a member of the Columbia Lodge, American Legion, VFW, Elks, AMVETS, Isaac Walton League and the Optimist Club.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his four children, George W. Bruchey, III and wife Debbie, Debra Bachtell and husband Donald, Robert Bruchey and James Bruchey and wife Danelle; 12 grandchildren, George W. Bruchey, IV, Sarah Bruchey, Jason Blumenauer, Ryan Blumenauer, Andrew Kuhlman, Robert Bruchey, Jr., Rebecca Bruchey, Carissa Bruchey, Megan Toney, Ashley Bruchey, Katie Bruchey and Brandon Bruchey; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Bere and his devoted nephew, Bill Bere.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Minnie Scheel and Ruth Shelton.

The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Friday, July 29, 2016 from 4-8PM.

Interment will be private.
