George Blair Jr., Lt. Col. (Ret)

October 15, 1945 — January 19, 2014

George R. Blair Jr., Lt. Col. (Ret.), 68, of Mount Airy, passed away on January 19, 2014 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Jeannine Blair.

Born on October 15, 1945 in Bethesda, MD he was the son of the late George R. Sr. and Louretta Mellott Blair.

He was a U. S. Army Veteran serving over 29 years before retirement. He was an accomplished marksman and OIC of National and International Pistol Teams for U.S.A.R. He was an avid gardener and competitive tomato grower.  He was a huge personality with a big heart who always had a story to tell.  He loved being in the woods and enjoyed spending time outdoors.  Hunting of all kinds was his passion while Canadian Geese hunting was his favorite. He was a master craftsman being the owner and operator of Blair's Floor Refinishing of Mt. Airy for over 30 years.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Jennifer E. Lencioni and husband John of Westborough, MA, Christine L. Chenausky and husband Brad of Linville, NC, Grandchildren Adrian and Christopher Lencioni, and brother in law Donald Turner and wife Lee.

Visitation will be held 3-5pm & 7-9pm on Wednesday January 22, 2014 at the Stauffer Funeral Home, P. A., 8 East Ridgeville Blvd, Mt. Airy where funeral services will be at 11:00am on Thursday January 23, 2014. Reverend Tim May will officiate. Interment will follow in Prospect Cemetery, Mt. Airy.
