Genevieve Ellis

April 9, 1926 — August 2, 2015

Mrs. Genevieve “Jenny” R. Ellis, 89 of Frederick, Maryland, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2015 at Citizens  Rehabilitation Center.  She was the wife of the late Manard Ellis.

Born April 9, 1926 in Bartholows, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late George E. and Lena Getzandanner Runkles.

Jenny was a life long member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Utica Lutheran Church.  She belonged to the Utica Lutheran Women’s League and was extremely active in the church.  She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed sewing, cooking, canning,  writing, and was an avid reader.  She had book of poetry published several years ago.

She is survived by  her dear children Wayne Putman  (Pat) of Lewistown, Jeanne Cross (Larry) of Myersville and Dan Putman (Lucille) of Lewistown, grandchildren Tammy Comstock, Tim Cross (Stephany), Lauri Wilhem (Matt), Jennifer Cross, Michael Cross (Jannet), Julie Cross and Matthew Cross (Jessie), 16 great-grandchildren, a dear friend Shirley Yoe, step-children Brenda Crites (Mackie), Marie Baer (Rick), Carolyn Bledsoe (Mark), Connie Hasty, Randy Ellis (Bonnie) and Kevin Thompson (Robin), 16 step-grandchildren and 13 step great grandchildren and several cousins.  She will be missed by her loving and special companion dog “Patches”.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Glenn Putman, Jr.; her brother Donald Runkles; step-daughter, Debra Cross; and step-granddaughter, Kristen Renee Hernandez.

The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, Wednesday, August 5, from 6 to 9:00 pm.  Funeral Services will be held at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10625 Old Frederick Road, Utica. Thursday, August 6, at 11:00 am with Rev. Albert K. Lane, III officiating.  A viewing will be from 10:00 am until service time at the church.

Interment Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jenny’s name, may be made to the church at the above address.
