Genevieve Dorsey

Mrs. Genevieve V. Dorsey, 91, of Frederick, died on Friday June 29, 2012 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Lorraine Dorsey who passed away on November 25, 1972.
Born in Baltimore on March 2, 1921 she was the daughter of the late William and Gertrude McSwain.
She came to the New London Area when she was 8 years old to work on the Walker Farm and do domestic work, it was there she met and married her husband Lorraine in 1943.
She was a member of Dorsey Christian Chapel Church.  She loved gospel music, watching games shows and comedy shows on tv and playing bingo.
She is survived by her daughters, Catherine Biggus and husband Lawrence of Frederick and Thelma Dorsey of Frederick. 6 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren.  One sister Bernice Robinson of Baltimore.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the oldest member of her family. She was preceded in death by her son, age 2, Howard Eugene Dorsey, four sister and two brothers.
Family would like to thank Dr. Haque, the staff and nurses of Northampton Manor and Friends at Catoctin New Apartments and all the ministers who visited her at Northampton, Bishop Merhle Lyles, Pastor Ernest Thomas and Pastor Anthony Washington and friends for all their support.
Friends may call on Tuesday July 3, 2012 at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, one hour prior to funeral services from 10:00am until time of services at 11:00am. Bishop Merhle Lyles will officiate. Interment will follow in New London Cemetery, New Market.
