Geneva P. Stunkel , 92, of Tuscarora, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 19 at Kline Hospice House. She was the wife of the late Glenn Stunkel, Sr. Born on May 31, 1925 near Middletown, MD, she was the daughter of Charles Cline and Lily (Gladhill) Cline.
Mrs. Stunkel was a graduate of Frederick High School. She was a catalog manager at Sears for 46 years, and then worked as an express cashier at Weis on Old Camp Road. Geneva enjoyed working with and helping people very much and she had a big following of customers and many friends. She was a lifetime member of Christ Reformed Church in Middletown and also attended Forest Grove United Methodist Church, where she was an associate member, having held different offices and also taught Sunday School. In her spare time, Mrs. Stunkel enjoyed baking and taking care of her yard.
Geneva is survived by a son, Glenn Stunkel, Jr. and his wife Cheryl; 2 grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Timothy Charles Stunkel and Katherine Lynn Stunkel as well as 3 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Charles R. Cline, Jr. and wife Evelyn of New Market, Shirley Cline of Hagerstown, Louise Cline of Libertytown as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Helen Dutrow, Ruth Masser and Jane Cline as well as brothers Lee Cline, Milo Cline and Wilbur Cline.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 23 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 24 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
