Geneva Hollenshead, 88, of Sharpsburg, went home to be with the Lord on March 23, 2019 at Doey’s House in Hagerstown. She was the wife of the late Roy Hollenshead.
Born on March 5, 1931 at home in Kearneysville, WV, she was the daughter of the late William Luther and Sarah Catherine (Palmer) Harrell. She worked as a teen for Reeders Memorial Home before leaving to raise her children as a homemaker. She went on to work for Avon for more than 15 years. After working for Avon, she went to work for Town Center for a few years, before returning to her love of patient care by providing in home care for more than 20 years until she had to retire. She loved being around people and truly loved caring for others. She enjoyed bingo with her daughter and “Yard-Hopping” yard sale shopping. She loved sports and was an avid Baltimore Orioles and Washington Redskins fan.
She is survived by her children, Ronnie William Harrell and wife Barb of Sharpsburg, Sharon Catherine Easterday of Georgia, William Richard Kimbrough of Hagerstown, Christine Elizabeth Davis of Sharpsburg and Brenda Kay Kimbrough of Sharpsburg; her step children, Eyleen Nichels of Funkstown and Clifton Hollenshead of Hagerstown; many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; her former daughter-in-law, Diane Harrell; Johnny Harrell; and close friend, Bonnie Delauter.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by, her son Donald; her step children, Paul Hollingshead, Ruth Richardson and Patsy Kuhn; her four siblings, Carney, Floyd, Maxine and George; her granddaughters, Regina and Jennifer (infants).
The family will receive friends from 6-9pm on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, MD 21713.
A funeral service will be held at 11am on Friday, March 29, 2019 at Salem United Methodist Church, 25 S. Main Street, Keedysville, MD. Pastors Alan Deal and Suzanne Jones will officiate. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Keedysville.
