Gene Ridgeway

Gene Ridgeway, 92, of Lovettsville, passed from this life on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at his residence.  He was the husband of Georgia (Frye) Ridgeway.  Born on March 12, 1925, in Lovettsville, VA, he was the son of Roy Sr. and Clara (Harrison) Ridgeway.

Gene was born and raised on his family's farm in Lovettsville.  He married his wife of 72 years, Georgia Frye, in 1945.  Mr. Ridgeway built and opened Open View Garage in 1949, which later became Ridgeway's Used Cars, still a family run business today.  Mr. Ridgeway was a 32nd Degree Mason, belonging to Freedom Lodge #118 in Lovettsville and belonged to Kena Temple in Fairfax.  Gene took pride in providing for his family and enjoyed spending time with them as well as helping others.  In his free time, he liked hunting, boating, fishing, old cars and Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by 4 children: Peggy Jackson and husband Robert, Gary Ridgeway, Terry Ridgeway and wife Debbie, Mark Ridgeway and wife Bonnie; 5 grandchildren: Scott Sigafoose and wife Tammy, Tammy Sigafoose, Brett Ridgeway and wife Ashley, Darren Ridgeway and wife Tracy, Brandon Ridgeway; 7 great-grandchildren: Dalton, Grant, Blake, Bryson, Camden, Claire and Brody as well as a brother, David Lee Ridgeway and wife Shirley and his sister-in-law Phyllis Ridgeway. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Louise Ridgeway; 2 siblings, Minnie Virginia Ridgeway and Roy E. "Petie" Ridgeway, Jr.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 12 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 North Maple Avenue, Brunswick.  A Masonic memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.  A celebration of Gene's life journey will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 13 at Stauffer Funeral Home, Brunswick.  Pastor Tony Forstall will officiate.  Interment will be in Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church Cemetery, Lovettsville.
