Mr. Gene G. Gardner of Frederick died August 23, 2015 at Kline Hospice House with family present.
Born August 5, 1924 in Frederick, he was the son of Susan (Fout) and Samuel F. Gardner, Sr.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters. He was the last member of the immediate family.
Mr. Gardner enjoyed early American decoration and was awarded many "A's" by the Historical Society of Early American Decoration for his craftsmanship.
Surviving are a niece, Ann M. Gambrill, of Frederick; and a number of great-nephews, great-nieces, and their families.
Mr. Gardner worked for 33 years at Fort Detrick in both the Comptroller Division and East Coast Telecommunications Center.
Mr. Gardner was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, having served in the Pacific Theatre. Mr. Gardner was a member of the ELC, Frederick.
Gene will be fondly remembered by all of his family and by the Homewood community, especially those residents of his lunch table crew and wait staff, as a dapper gentleman with a sweet ornery way.
The family would like to thank the FMH and Kline Hospice House staffs for their compassionate care of Gene during his final days.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
