Mr. Gary (SPARKIE) Joseph Sanders, 57, of Emmitsburg, died on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at Frederick memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Teresa ( Myers ) Sanders.

Born on June 28, 1950 in Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Paul and Cecilia ( Reese ) Sanders.

Mr. Sanders attended Mother Seton School, Emmitsburg. He was a former member of the Emmitsburg Ambulance Co. His employment included; Freeman Shoe, Thurmont Shoe Factory, and was a cook at Piggy Duke's & Saloon. He also worked for Easy Fill Getty Station.

He loved sharing life with his grandchildren, enjoyed cooking for the family. He liked sitting outside, talking with neighbors and was fascinated by thunderstorms.

Surviving beside his wife are two daughters; Stephanie Myers and fiance Tim Cool, Amanda Snedegar and husband Charles, grandchildren; Jordan, Tiffany and Jeremiah, step-grandchildren; C.J. and Colyn, two brothers; James Sanders and wife Pat of Iowa City, IA, Charles Sanders and wife Mary of Taneytown, half-brother Ronald Sanders, five step-brothers, five step-sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister Mary Ann Sanders and a brother Paul ( Skip ) Sanders.

Services: Family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont on Sunday, May 4th, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. with memorial services beginning at 3:00 p.m. Elder Nathan Mizzell will officiate.
