Gary Lee Long, 68 of Mt. Airy, died Sunday, March 20, 2016. Born June 20, 1947 in Frederick, MD to the late Woodrow Otis Long, Sr. and Anna E. Davis Long. He is survived by children Christy Long of Woodsboro, Brenda Deener of Knoxville, MD, Brian and Robert Bowman both of Thurmont; grandfather of Shelby Crowe, Brett Spahr, Mark Stotler, Sr. Brandon Deener, Kyle Deener, Melissa Bowman, Alyssia Turner and Wyatt Bowman; great grandfather of Aubrey and Mark Stotler, Jr. and the soon to be born Savannah Abrecht; brother of Anna Long of Union Bridge, Betty Bell of Mt. Airy, Cinda Long of Libertytown, and the late Otis (Woody) Long, Jr. and Charles Davis; also survived by his ex-wife Martha Long, for which they remained friends all these years.

Gary recently retired from 84 Lumber as a forklift operator, he was a member of FOE Erie 1067 of Frederick, an avid duckpin bowler for many years at the Walkersville Bowling Center. In his earlier years, fishing was his passion, you could find him at the river every weekend. He always loved family get togethers at his sister's and brother-in-law's place in the summertime, enjoying his family and many friends he had. He will be sorely missed by everyone that knew him.

At Gary's request, all services are private and everyone to remember him as he was. Later this summer, the family will have a Celebration of Gary's Life and share memories of the fun times.
