Gary Leith

Gary Dwaynne Leith, 52, of Frederick, Maryland, passed peacefully on Wednesday, May, 15, 2019.  He suffered with Parkinson’s disease for 18 years and the last few years of his life with Dementia which took the man we all loved.
Born on September 4, 1966 in Lexington Park, Maryland, he was the son of Franklin Delano Roosevelt Leith and the late Frances Delores (Tyler) Leith.
Gary was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, brother in-law, son-in-law and Pop.  He not only built homes but was an Architectural Planner.  Gary always had some project going around the house or helping friends with theirs.  When his mother became ill with Parkinson’s, he made his mind up to find a cure.  He started his own non-profit, The Gary D. Leith Foundation for Parkinson’s Disease.  He was honored by Michael J. Fox for the funds raised that were donated to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research at a dinner in New York City.  He was the kindest, big hearted man you ever had the pleasure of knowing.  With his declining health, he had to close the foundation.
Gary was a dedicated Pittsburgh Steelers fan, he did well in all sports and loved the game of golf.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jill Ann Leith.  In addition to his wife, Gary is survived by his sister, Jane Cartwright, her husband the late Alex Cartwright; brother, Ken Leith and his wife Patti Leith; brother in-law to Cathy Spencer and her husband, Colin Spencer; two step-daughters, Amanda Alexander and husband, Eric Alexander and Jennifer Anderson and husband, Robert Anderson. Gary is also survived by his nephews, Christian Cartwright, Patrick Cartwright and wife, Wendy Cartwright, Greg Seymour and niece, Nicole Maluso and husband Mike Maluso and his two great nieces, Madison Cartwright and Eliza Maluso; four grandchildren, Aubrey Alexander, Marcus Weigman, Jared Anderson and Travis Anderson.  Can’t forget how well he treated his mother-in-law, Mary Ellen Waldron and son- in-law to Francis Staab, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:00am on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD. 21702.  A celebration of Gary’s life journey will follow at the funeral home at 11:00am.
Gary’s celebration of life will continue at Sheri and Mike Markett's home, 17204 Moss Side Lane, Olney, MD. 20832 at 2:00 pm. Please honor Gary with wearing his Steelers team jersey/tee shirt or if you must, your favorite team, he will forgive you.
Memorial donations may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
