Gary Dorsey

Gary Lee Dorsey, 61, of Knoxville, Maryland, passed from this life on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at the Medical Center in Winchester, Virginia.

Born on April 8, 1954 in Frederick, Maryland, he is the son of Evelyn (Himes) Dorsey Smith of Frederick and the late Leroy W. Dorsey.

Gary was a graduate of the Governor Thomas Johnson High School in Frederick.

Most recently he had been employed at the Clopper-Michael American Legion Post 10 in Boonsboro.

He was member of the Braddock Heights Volunteer Fire Company, the First Hose Company of Boonsboro, and the Sons of the American Legion Squad 10 in Boonsboro.

Gary always enjoyed spending time with his family, and especially he loved his Ford F150.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Mary L. (Himes) Dorsey; his three children, Jason A. Dorsey and wife Amy of Sharpsburg, Maryland, Jeremy W. Dorsey and wife Nicole of Charles Town, West Virginia, and Jessica M. Wachter and husband Vern of Boonsboro; one sister, Wanda J. Stone and husband William of Frederick; eight grandchildren, Taylor Dorsey, Caleb Dorsey, Hayleigh Wachter, Noah Dorsey, Hunter Dorsey, Parker Dorsey, Cooper Dorsey, and Paige Dorsey; and his wife's parents, John and Cora Himes of Knoxville.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as many other family and friends.

The family invites friends to join them for a memorial gathering from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro.

A memorial service in celebration of Gary's life journey will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at the Chestnut Grove Bible Church, 3636 Chestnut Grove Road in Keedysville.  Rev. David B. Manley will officiate.
