G. Arthur Graham

G. Arthur Graham, 82, of Walkersville , died on Thursday May 7, 2009 at his home. He was the husband of Shirley B. Graham to whom he was married for 59 years.

Born on August 23, 1926 in Walkersville, he was the son of the late George Hanson and Lillian Sheeley Graham.

Mr. Graham was a lifelong farmer, he enjoyed working in his flower garden, fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He worked for many years at Misner's Tile and Carpet Shop. After retirement he enjoyed meeting and making friends while employed at T.R. Saylor's Hardware Store in Walkersville. He was a lifelong member of Glade United Church of Christ, Walkersville. He was also a life member of the Walkersville Volunteer Fire Co.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters Patricia A. Graham and her husband Dean W. Bowers of Walkersville and Susan G. Smith and her husband Richard L. of Frederick. Grandchildren Katie M. and Drew G. Smith both of Frederick. One sister Thelma Kula of Uniontown, PA. Mr. Graham was Uncle Artie to special niece and nephew, Sandra K. Hirsch, Thurmont and Joseph R. Kula, Frederick. He is also survived by numerous other nieces and nephews.

He will be remembered by his breakfast companion and dear friend, Wilmer Frank Beard, Walkersville.

Mr. Graham was preceded in death by a sister Barbara G. Smith.

Visitation: Friends may call on Sunday May 10, from 7-9pm and on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Avenue, Walkersville.

Services: Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday May 12, at Glade United Church of Christ, 21 Fulton Avenue, Walkersville. The Reverend Dr. Gerald Hanberry will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Woodsboro.

Pallbearers will be Drew G. Smith, Richard L. Smith, Dean W. Bowers, Joseph R. Kula, Chris Masemore and James C. Misner.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions should be made to the Glade United Church of Christ.
