Garman Bowers, Sr.

Born on October 11, 1927, in Sharpsburg, Maryland, he was the son of the late Kenneth W. and Nora (Benner) Bowers. His wife of 46 years, Wahneta F. Bowers, preceded him in death in 2002.

Garman worked at Brandt Cabinet Works, Vertol Aircraft, Custer Channel Wing, Fairchild Industries, and retired from Mack Truck, Inc.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Funkstown, Maryland.

He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II.

He is survived by one son, Garman L. Bowers, Jr.; one daughter, Karen W. Pierce and husband Michael A.; two grandsons, Michael A. Pierce, II and wife Kelly G., and Garman L. Bowers, III and fiancée Olivia F. Tomsic; one great-grandson, Joseph B. Pierce; and one great-granddaughter, Chloe M. Pierce.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland. Rev. Michael K. Louia will officiate. Final resting place ceremonies will be held at Mountain View Cemetery in Sharpsburg.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
