Galen Ray { Jake or Jakie} Eyler

Mr. Galen Ray Jake or Jakie Eyler, 78, of Walkersville, MD., died suddenly near his home, Sunday, September 14, 2008.

Born August 8, 1930 in Walkersville, he was the son of the late James Albert and Anna Mary Irene Keeney Eyler.

Mr. Eyler was a dairy farmer, close to 50 years, on the Zimmerman dairy farm on Daysville Road until his retirement. He was an avid New York Yankee fan, enjoyed playing dominos with family and friends, taking care of wildlife; feeding the birds and squirrels and taking care of his cats. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and he will be dearly missed by all.

He is survived by one brother Harry Eyler and wife Mary of Woodsboro; one sister Peggy D. Eyler of Walkersville; one brother-in-law George Ruthvin of Frederick; a special niece Bonnie S. Snyder and husband Jim of Libertytown; one special great-niece Nicole L. Norwood and husband Robbie of Thurmont; one special great-great niece Cheyenne V. Norwood of Thurmont; one niece Nancy Bradley and husband Paul of Jefferson; four nephews, Wayne Eyler of Woodsboro; Kenny Eyler and wife Mildred of Falling Waters, WV; Gary Eyler of Libertytown and Hayes Ruthvin, Jr of Frederick and two special cousins Gary and Joyce Young of Walkersville. Many great nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He will also be remembered by special friends and neighbors Johannah Zimmerman, Ryan Zimmerman and family, Connie Roderuck and family, Sonny Zimmerman, Joann and Emerson Burrier and many more friends.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Wilma Boots Eyler, Hallie Ruthvin, Pauline Eyler and Alice Eyler, two brothers Roland Tom Eyler and Rudell Shorty Eyler and one sister-in-law Louise Eyler.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Avenue, Walkersville on Wednesday, September 17, from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9:00 p.m.

Services: Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, September 18 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Jerry Cline officiating.
