Mrs. Gale Burwell, 74 of Adamstown, MD, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at her home. She was the wife of the late Spottswood Blair Burwell.
Born June 15, 1934 in San Francisco, CA, she was the daughter of the late Manley Hale and Louise Bedell Simons.
Gale was treasurer of the League of Women Voters in Frederick. During her time at Buckinghams Choice, she was the founder and first president of the wine society, secretary of the residents association and founder of the Bulletin and was Editor in Chief. She was an amateur wine maker and founder of the Ridge, MD Wine Society. Gale was a volunteer in the Genealogy Department at the Frederick County Library and was also a keen family genealogist.
She is survived by two children Frances Burwell and husband James Meen of Takoma Park, MD and Spottswood Chip Burwell and wife Caroline Draper of La Jolla, CA, a step-grandson Matthew, and her beloved companion Marvin Fink of Adamstown. She will be missed by her many friends at Buckinghams Choice.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 3, at Buckinghams Choice, 3200 Baker Circle, Adamstown, MD.
Interment will be at St. Paul's Episcopal Cemetery, Point of Rocks, MD.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, P. O. Box 216, Point of Rocks, MD 21777 or to Buckinghams Choice Residents Assistant Fund at the above address.
