To simplify 76 years of life in a few short words- like trying to capture all the stars in the heavens and put them in a thimble. Gail Maxi Ferrara Harris was born in Washington, DC, raised in Georgetown, and graduated from Mt. St. Mary’s College. Above all else - she truly
lived. She laughed. She loved. She cried. She struggled and she overcame.
She was a fighter and a mother; a grandmother and an aunt; she was a cousin and a sister; a wife and a friend. She sang sweet melodies and danced by the sea; read thousands of
books and bathed in music; she traveled the world with adventure in her soul.
She loved sports, especially baseball and football - her loyalty to the Redskins never wavered. Her life was spent helping people - her family, friends, and those troubled by addiction and disabilities.
On April 5, 2012 at 1:14 p.m. this loving servant of God took her last breath and left this world with a legacy of family and unconditional love. Survived by her six living children: Frank Harris, Marty Harris, Rick Harris, Laurie Swisher, Jennifer West, and Jeanine Harris,
she runs into the arms of her departed son Danny Harris, as well as her parents, Mildred and Frank Ferrara. Her sister Susie Boss and brother Bruce Ferrara will forever carry her in their hearts. Leaving twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, her endless capacity for love will never die.
Mass will be held on Friday, April 13 at noon at St. John’s Church in Frederick, MD with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations should be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
