Frederick "Freddie" Reeder

January 7, 1944 — August 4, 2010

Frederick "Freddie" E. Reeder, 66, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at his home in Boonsboro, Maryland while surrounded by his family and friends after a 13 year fight with cancer.

Born on January 7, 1944, he was the son of the late Harry L. and Mary C. (McCarty) Reeder.

He was a 1962 graduate of Boonsboro High School.

Mr. Reeder was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Vietnam War.

Freddie retired in 2002 from Mack Truck in Hagerstown, after 39 years of service.

He was a member of the Clopper-Michael American Legion Post 10 in Boonsboro and a life member of the Amvets Post 10 in Hagerstown.  He was also a member of the Improved Order of Redmen Boonsboro Tribe 155, the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 948 in Charles Town, West Virginia and the U.A.W. Retired Workers Local #171.

Freddie was an avid thoroughbred racing fan and enjoyed his frequent visits to Charles Town for more than 50 years.

He is survived by his wife Margaret V. (Welsh) Reeder; his daughter Heather D. and her husband William Salb of Crofton, Maryland; his brother Glenn H. Reeder and his wife Rosemary of Boonsboro; his two grandchildren, Ryan D. and Eric W. Salb; five nieces, Selena and her husband Chris Doyle, Kelly and her husband Todd Moore, Wendy and her husband Kevin Murphy, Teresa and her husband John Parker, and Samantha Ryan; and four nephews, G. Scott Reeder and his wife Deena, Michael Miller, Bradley Welsh and Freddie Welsh.  He is also survived by 4 great nieces and 1 great nephew.

Freddie was preceded in death by his brother, H. Sherman Reeder and his nephew Brian Hull.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 6, 2010 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro.  Burial will follow at the Boonsboro Cemetery.  Military Honors will be rendered by the Clopper-Michael American Legion Post 10 from Boonsboro.

Friends may begin visiting at the funeral home at 12 noon on Thursday, August 5, 2010 where the family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Avenue, Hagerstown, Maryland, 21742.
