Frederick John "Tex" Warnken, 87, of Cumberland, formerly of Boonsboro, MD, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Cumberland, MD. He was the loving husband of Charlotte Arlene Windsor Warnken. They were married December 6, 1974.
Born August 30, 1929 in Reisterstown, MD, he was the son of the late Vernon and Audrey Kahl Gott.
Tex was a veteran, obtaining rank of Major, after serving 20 years and retiring from the U.S. Army National Guard.
He was employed by C & P Telephone Company retiring in 1983 as a system technician.
He was a member of the Morris Frock American Legion Post 42, Military Officers Association, 29th Division Association Post 110.
Tex was a member of Love Grows Here Church in Sharpsburg, MD.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Dwayne A. Warnken of Martinsburg, WV; and two daughters, Phyllis A. Cole of Surfside Beach, SC and Valerie L. Flatten and husband, William, of Federalsburg, MD; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2016 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro with Pastor John Torrence officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.
