On Friday May 12, 2023 one of the brightest lights this world has ever seen, Fred H. Mosrie, passed away, at the of age 80, surrounded by his beloved wife and daughter.
Fred’s humble beginnings, began November 29, 1942 in Mullens, West Virginia. Fred was the second son born to a Syrian restaurant entrepreneur and a young beautiful West Virginia girl. West Virginia always remained close to his heart even long after moving to the DC area in the 1960's. After graduating high school, he worked the DC circuit as a bartender which became an entertaining topic of discussion over the years. Later he found his career with the US Postal Service where he retired in 2002. After retiring, he devoted a lot of his time doing what he loved most which was curating his Moxie collection. He had a deep appreciation for history with a wealth of knowledge that he would gladly share with anyone. Fred loved his family and friends deeply, was always the life of the party, and could play a mean air guitar like no other. His positivity was infectious, and he will be sorely missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Helen Mosrie; and his beloved companions, Gizmo, Walker and Lucky.
Fred is survived by his wife, Janette; daughter, Freida Bratcher and her husband, Rob; grandchildren, Tyler and Mia; and brother Arif.
A celebration of Fred's life journey will take place at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, Maryland. Chaplain Bernard Height will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to and immediately following services on Sunday at the funeral home.
