Fred Wendell Linthicum, Sr., 80, of Port Charlotte, Florida , formerly of Frederick, MD, passed from this life on February 12, 2014 at Peace River Regional Medical Center.
Born Nov 24, 1933 on the family farm in Dickerson, MD, he was the son of Charles Hamilton, Sr. and Sophia Carlisle Linthicum. Fred was a disabled veteran, having served his country during the Korean War where he earned a Purple Heart. Fred loved gardening, NASCAR and Ford.
Fred is survived by his wife of 37 years, Carol O’Brien Weddle Linthicum; five children, Lori L Linthicum and husband, David Beach of Myersville, MD, Robert W Linthicum of Venice, FL, James R Weddle of Charles Town, WV, Carol Hess and husband, David of Potomac Falls, VA and Fred W Linthicum, Jr and wife, Rachel of Port Charlotte, FL; nine, grandchildren, Sophie Braunstein, Columbia, MD, Rachel Braunstein, Myersville, MD, Kaiya and Avery Linthicum of Port Charlotte, FL, Jordan, Jason & John Hess of Potomac Falls, VA and Jack and Patrick Weddle of Charles Town, WV.
He is also survived by his sisters Mary Louise Beach and Mary Hamilton Linthicum, sister-in-law, Marie Linthicum and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeacesed by his siblings: Charles “Buddy” Linthicum, William Linthicum, Dwight Linthicum, Evelyn Keith and Caroline Harrison.
The family will recieve friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Saturday, March 22, 2014 from 1-2PM where a memorial service will begin at 2PM.
