Franklin Donald Toms, Sr.

Mr. Franklin Donald Toms, Sr., 74, of Thurmont died on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Irene Lynette Dion Toms who died in 2000.

Born on August 18, 1932, in Lewistown he was the son of the late Leroy Eyster and Leona Mae Green Toms.

He was the owner operator of Toms Trucking. Mr. Toms served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Thurmont American Legion.

Mr Toms liked to drive his dump truck and was an excellent mechanic. He also enjoyed tinkering on old cars, but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving are 4 children: Donald Toms and wife Bev of Thurmont, Robert Toms and wife Lori of Dunnellon, FL, Brenda Brandt and husband Ronald of Lebanon, PA and Franklin Toms, Jr. and wife Brenda of Thurmont; 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; 6 brothers and sisters: Eva Baker, Ruby Eckenrode, JoAnn Dale, Janet Eckenrode, Lee Toms and Wayne Toms, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He will also be remembered by his special friend, Charles Welsh of Thurmont.

Mr. Toms was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Toms and 2 sisters:Etta Eckenrode and Catherine Toms.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Sunday, April 29, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont.

Services: Services will be held at the funeral home at 2:00 PM on Monday, April 30.

Interment will take place in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
