Franklin Monroe Williams Sr., 83, of Woodsboro, Maryland, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Frederick Memorial Hospital under the care of Hospice. He was the husband of Judy Haines Williams for 37 years.
Born on February 14, 1935, in Etchison, Maryland, he was the son of the late William Leroy and Mary Ellen (Browning) Williams. Frankie was the youngest of four boys and grew up in Browningsville. At one time, he owned and operated 4 service stations before going in to farming full time. Frankie was the largest grain farmer in Frederick County in the 1980’s. He enjoyed refurbishing older homes, drag racing and loved dancing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Karen Dotterer (Paul), Patricia Phelps (Gregg); his son, Franklin M. Williams Jr. (Ethelann-Charli); grandchildren, Michael Phelps, Andrew Phelps, Rebecca Phelps Wilmoth, Kiley Groft (Nathan), and Maurice “Mo” Williams; great-grandchildren, Bradley Phelps, Brandon Phelps, Dominic Rossi-Phelps, Lily Wilmoth and Ryder Groft. He will also be missed by his special close friends, his niece, Melissa Clayton and Randy Workman.
The last of his immediate family, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James B. Williams (Sonny), Robert L. Williams, and Maurice L. Williams Sr. (Windy), and his nephew, Maurice L. Williams Jr.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8pm on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd, Mt. Airy, MD 21771. A Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Friday, March 2nd at Mountain View United Methodist Church, 11501 Mountain View Road, Damascus, MD 20872. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
