Colonel (Ret) Frank Joseph Petrilli Jr., more affectionately known as “Chickie”, 71, of Frederick, MD, formerly of Hendersonville, NC, passed away June 19, 2013 of non-smoker’s Emphysema and complications of COPD.
He was born to Colonel (Ret) Frank and Stella Petrilli on September 18, 1941 in Winthrop, Massachusetts. He honorably served his country as a soldier in the U.S. Army for thirty-one years.
He is survived by his wife: Elvira Petrilli and two children: Denise Katz-Sheeler and her husband Antonio Sheeler of Frederick, MD; and Frank Petrilli III and his wife Virginia. He is also survived by five grandchildren: David, Amy, and Jonathan Katz and Vincent and Amber Sheeler. He left behind two sisters, Stephanie Petrilli-Williams of Somerset, PA and Joan Madigan of Ocala, FL as well as many other loving family and friends.
Strong-willed and warm-hearted, he brought lots of joy and laughter to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be eternally missed.
A Memorial Mass, officiated by Reverend Lawrence Frazier, will be celebrated at 10am on July 6, 2013 at St. Joseph’s on Carrollton Manor Catholic Church, located at 5843 Manor Woods Road, Buckeystown MD. Interment will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in honor of him to Hospice of Frederick County or the military non-profit Operation Homefront.
