Frank C. Cover III, 71, of Frederick, died January 25, 2014 while in the care of hospice.
Frank graduated from Brunswick High School, MD, served two years in the U.S. Air Force, and began a life-long career in railroad work, beginning with the B&O Railroad and transitioning to Amtrak-Washington Terminal Co. where he served as Carman, Foreman III, as well as General Chairman of the ARASA-TSU for the Washington to Florida corridor. Frank retired in 2002, and worked as a school bus driver for Frederick County Public Schools until illness prevented him from working in 2013.
Frank is survived by his wife, Helen Poffenbarger Cover, his children: Jacqueline, Clinton, Michael, Curtis, and Virginia, and 13 grandchildren; his sister, Sue Ann Yingling, and nephew David. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Frank C. Cover, Jr. and Francis Cover, as well as nephew Allen Yingling.
Visitation will be held Wednesday January 29th, 6-8p.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10625 Old Frederick Road, Thurmont, with Pastor Bert Lane presiding. A luncheon will follow the service.
