Francis P. Rooney, Sr.
On Monday, November 2nd of New Market, MD. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, March 25, 1937. He is predeceased in death by his parents Thomas and Sarah (Loughran) Rooney; first wife Regina Rooney, and brother Robert. Frank is survived by devoted wife Rosalie Rooney; brother Thomas Rooney, daughter Laura and husband Richard Johnson, son Francis Jr. and wife Heather, step-sons Jeffrey Baxter, Thomas Baxter, Alexander Baxter; and 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Frank graduated from Archbishop Carroll High School, Washington, DC in 1955 and recently helped to organize his class’s 60th reunion. He attended American University and graduated with a B.A. in 1964 and went on to graduate from law school at the University of Baltimore in 1970. Frank began his professional career as a Congressional Aide to Barry Goldwater. He later served as a Legislative Assistant at the Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association. Frank spent most of his career as President of the Biscuit and Cracker Manufacturers’ Association. He spent his retirement enjoying the beach, traveling, and time with family.
The family will receive friends from 3 – 5 and 7 – 9 p.m. Friday, November 6, 2015 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 1 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2015 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 9190 Church St. Union Bridge, MD. Entombment will be in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens.
