Mr. Francis E. Murphy, 71, of New Market, MD died Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at his home with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of 43 years to Betty J. (Jeanette) Bryant Murphy.
Born May 24, 1942 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Aline and Arthur Murphy.
Francis was self-employed and owned his own Filtration business. He had a strong work ethic that he carried throughout his life. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Lesa Sherwood and husband, Patrick, of New Market; son, Thomas David Haile of New Market; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Kevin, Bob and Michael Murphy; and sisters, Diane Fowler, Peggy Warren and Patricia Burns
He was predeceased by a daughter, Janet Rieder.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2013 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy, MD 21771. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 9 from the funeral home.
Inurnment in the Columbarium at Arlington National Cemetery will take place at a later date.
