Francis Higgs, Sr.
November 28, 1920 — January 17, 2016
Mr. Francis L. Higgs, Sr., 95 of Frederick, MD passed away Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Sunrise Assisted Living. He was the husband of the late Dorothy Bassist for 63 years.
Born November 28, 1920 in Wilmington, DE he was the son of the late Arthur and Reine Donjon Higgs.
Francis proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a WWII Veteran serving in the Battle of the Bulge. He was the Assistant Chief Building Engineer for National Geographic Society, prior to his retirement. Many will remember Francis as a first class handyman.
He is survived by his children Michael Higgs and wife Tessie of Ashburn, VA and Francis Higgs, Jr., and wife Debra of Monrovia, MD; grandchildren Michelle McGowan and husband Paul of Cool, CA, Jennifer Bucklew and husband Brandon of Monrovia, MD and Mikey Higgs of Ashburn, VA.
He was preceded in death by his two brothers Clint and John Higgs and his sister Yvonne Seekford.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 21 at 10AM. Pastor Greg Quintrell will officiate.
Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Mt. Airy.
