Mr. Francis Edward "Eddie" Green, 71, of Rosemont (Knoxville), died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Frederick Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. He was the husband of Sharon Grams Green, his loving wife of 51 years.
Born December 29, 1943 in Loudoun County, VA, he was the son of the late James Edward and Helen Irene Green.
Mr. Green was a graduate of Frederick High School, class of '61, and also received his Associate Degree from Frederick Community College. He attended New Hope United Methodist Church in Brunswick. Eddie was a Sr. Programmer/Analyst for Data Management Services at Fort Detrick for 38 years until his untimely death.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, M. Scott Green of Jefferson, and R. Kirk Green and wife, Terri, of Middletown. He was immensely proud of his three granddaughters, Taylor Green, Emerald Green and Courtney Green.
Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Thelma Grams; his beloved sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, James and Sandra Cox, and David and Billie Hickman, all of Rosemont; and Todd and Eileen Grams of Gaithersburg; and his nieces and nephews, Ryan Cox, Jeffrey Cox, Leslie Hickman, Carrie Hickman, Meredith Grams Bierbower, Maria Grams Snyder and John Grams.
He was predeceased by his father-in-law, H. William Grams.
Eddie's greatest joy was his family, especially his three granddaughters. He was their proudest fan...never missing a game, an event, or pageant. Eddie also enjoyed hosting annual family picnics, going to the beach, attending athletic events, and visiting Disney World.
Eddie was known for his sense of humor and love of people...always willing to give a helping hand and never seeking the spotlight. He loved to work at the Great Frederick Fair, the Catoctin Color Fest, and the Maryland Christmas Show, where he could just meet and talk with so many different people. He never met a stranger!
Eddie was an avid athlete as a youth and young adult, and especially loved and played baseball and softball. He was a lifetime supporter of Brunswick area sports and was a member of the original 1954 Brunswick Railroaders Little League Lions. Eddie was a respected IAABO and FCBOA basketball official, an USSSA softball umpire, and a flag football official. He also served as a Frederick County Elections Judge for many years in the Petersville District.
