Francis L. DeSirant, LtCol. USMCR (Retired), 57, died on Monday, April 11, 2011, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the loving husband of Cynthia A. DeSirant for twenty-eight years.

Born on June 9, 1953 in Lorain, Ohio, he was the son of the late Francis Lewis and Doris Jean (Jedlick) DeSirant.

He was an avid hunter, a member of the Marine Corps League, and a member of Faith Baptist Church in Knoxville, MD, where he served as a deacon and was active in the music ministry program. He was currently working for N.I.S.T.

He is survived by his wife and their children: Elizabeth Whicker (husband, Jacob) of Frederick; Kathryn White (husband, Aaron) of Salt Lake City, UT; Lauren Lunde (husband, Joshua) of Denver, CO; and, Thomas DeSirant of Frederick, MD; and their five grandchildren: Halee, Karis, Jett, Joshua and Ryan. He is also survived by his brothers Ronald, Darryl and Jay DeSirant and a sister, Rene Howard, all of Florida, as well as by his mother and father-in-law, Lyle and Frances Stanley of Spokane, WA.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 16, 2011, at the Faith Baptist Church, 2212 Jefferson Pike, Knoxville, MD, 21758, with an open lunch reception immediately following. Pastor Ed Jordan will officiate. Internment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
